April 1 1873 Tuesday

            Reese on hand  plowing  Mary and I went to Leesburgh paid for clover & timseed                                     4.25

for mother 350 for Baker                                3.75

all paid to robert                                              8.00

 

April 2 1873 Wednesday

            Reese on hand  went to Leesville with oxen & mules for load cole for Ed 16 1/4 bus at 8 cts = 1.30

got 1 pint cator oil                       .25

paid Robert the cash_Channel

was choping while we was gon

 

April 3 1873 Thursday

            Reese on hand  plowing  Channels choping  got 16 lb Bacon for 1.25  got 44 lb flower before 5 cts 2.20  said he made 260 rails & choped 4 cords wood comes to $5.75

 

April 4 1873 Friday

            Robert here & took Ph  Reese on hand  plowing afternoon forenoon haul wood  Ed sow clover seed & help me haul load hay  Rock fell trough (mon)? floor

 

April 5 1873 Saturday

            Very warm & fine Reese on hand plowing & haul in 2 load (leaves)? warm & sultrey  Reese plowing over by sheep house  I had oxen out & Edward haul loggs & wood

 

April 6 1873 Sunday

            Warm & sultry at home all day Theadore here with wife & Lidey

 

April 7 1873 Monday

            Reese left after breakfast  Ed plowed some  I went to the election & J.Fierbaughs  Joe Ezra Mike & Dan had Exprefs to New Market  Isac Channals here at supper  I gave him order on R.H.Smith of two dollars $2.00

 

April 8 1873 Tuesday

            I went to Leesburgh after dinner in Exprefs  took old plow to get handle put to it  brought home 5 plow points from J.J.Smith unpaid for  I kept two & left 3 for Mansfield at station & 1 bus clover seed for McGavern

 

April 9 1873 Wednesday

            I bought 6 bus corn of Isaac Masters to mix with Rye 3/4 of H.Tompson paid for all of it wet day

 

April 10 1873 Thursday

            Forenoon took grist Rye to Mill  mixed to grind  had oxen & cart went to Leesville  after din brought home Philley mare

 

April 11 1873 Friday

            Esra Fierbaugh commenced to work this morning at the rate of $15.00 pr month  forenoon plowed till brok off by rain_  I went to John McKews before breakfast to try to sell sorell mare

 

April 12 1873 Saturday

            Ezra on hand took gag hay to Leesburgh & brought back 16 1/4 bus cole Oxen & mules all day

Ezra to goods to ampt    1.00

Paid for 16 1/4 bus cole 1.30

for H.B. Shearer                      9.30

" order given Channels   2.00

$12.50 in cash I gave  $13.60

 

April 13 1873 Sunday

            At home all day  Robert here for dinner = gave Reese cash out on sled $2.50 two 50/100 dollars $^,zz Ezra had george horse to go home

 

April 14 1873 Monday

            Ezra on hand  helping to build fence between Johnson & I in upper end of bottom (forelft)  school election

 

April 15 1873 Tuesday

            Ezra on hand plowing in sta ground  after dinner I went to Leesburgh for big wagon left plow at Joseph to sell

 

April 16 1873 Wednesday

            Ezra on hand  plowing all day  I plowed afternoon with brown horses after Ed come home from Huffs

 

April 17 1873 Thursday

            Ezra on hand  forenoon haulded two loads from barn  wet afternoon  Ezra onley 1/2 day  quit afternoon

 

April 18 1873 Friday

            Ezra on hand  forenoon cleaning out sellor & sorting potatoes afternoon haul manure in garden from hog pen

 

April 19 1873 Saturday

            Ezra on hand  forenoon haul wood to Edward & ourselves afternoon took sheep over Creek  haul leaves etc etc  J.McClain here assessen val of stock over $1200.00

 

April 20 1873 Sunday

            At home all day  Robert & family here.  Wet afternoon to go home  but started

 

April 21 1873 Monday

            Wet & no oats sowed  Ezra on hand  went to split rails  I went to Deersville of F.J. Siminton  cash on furniture in closing wool acpt $4.85 also a due bill he held again me bal on shouts to close cattle account of March 30 & April 3rd calling for $19.20/100 also cash on $2000.00 recept which I recepted for $300.00 Three hundred dollars

 

April 22 1873 Tuesday

            Cold rain & stormey, Caraline died this morning about 7 oclock after feeding  I went to Leesburgh for burring Clothes,  Ezra to Gundey & home also to Bowerston  cold & stormey,  lost a lamb chilled_

 

April 23 1873 Wednesday

            Frose hard, snowed hard & stormey forenoon, Caraline burried afternoon Joseph & familey & Mrs Edgerby here  Theadore wife & child,  Rachal Carry & babe with (him)?

            Ezra drove Mules to wagon Ed I. Masters & family & others

 

April 24 1873 Thursday

            Ezra on hand  after feeding about 9 oclcock  Mike come and they went to plow (fix)? oat ground brough up Drill & harrow

 

April 25 1873 Friday

            Cold snowey & stormey  Ezra on hand  first clean 15 bus oats to sow, harrowed bal of day  Michal drilled (fir)? the peice sowed 11 bushels fraction short of 6 aces_  Ezra went to singing after sup

 

April 26 1873 Saturday

            Ezra on hand  haul manure all day  oxen & cart from stable  I went to Leesburgh to see Bob before going East and learned to my sorrow Joseph had left his fam & store for quarters unknown  come right back to detain Bob

 

April 27 1873 Sunday

            A fine day  went to Leesville to if any news of Joseph but none as yet  Ezra had Alick mule

 

April 28 1873 Monday

            Ezra on hand  forenoon haul Rails  afternoon wet  ground axe and chored around all day

 

April 29 1873 Tuesday

            At home all day  Ezra on hand  forenoon haul manure  afternoon at fence  Robert come up to tell of Joseph

 

April 30 1873 Wednesday

            Ezra on hand  haul rails sugartree log coreys cut & build fence acrofs far end of oat ground I plowed in after noon below new fence on corner east of draft  Brindle cow had Calf this morning or yesterday eve
