May 1 1873 Thursday

            ( Written top of page: 10 cts to Ezra 3rd receaved letter from brother Wm last Eve)  Ezra on hand  plowing till dinner over in far corner of stalk field  at 10 oclock I started for bro Wm  tured out to be a wet afternoon  stayed there all night

 

May 2 1873 Friday

            Ezra on hand  setting gate posts with Ed over on section line fence forenoon  I come home from bro Williams trough Deers  brought home Old sledge & wagon box for low wagon  I then went to Leesburgh to my suprise  Josephs boys spread manure & fix fence

 

May 3 1873 Saturday

            Wettish day  Ezra on hand  he and Ed at cart bed when I come home  I receaved of R.H.S. to convert into eastern checks first $400.00 after of him $100.00 & $30.00= 130.00= 530.00

of Joseph as I understood  come home trough Bowerston with Robert that far to start a little after 1 oclock  Ezra to 1 plug cab tobacco   10

 

May 4  1873 Sunday

            A fine day  Theadore rode Joseph Mare up to leave her in pasture_ I went to John Adams and stayed with him over night

 

May 5 1873 Monday

            (Written top of page: Ezra to Tobacco and soap on 7th 50)

            Ezra on hand he & Ed plowing & finishing sowing Oats  I in Cadiz & mailed Rob 5 drafts for $300.00 each equaling $1500.00 in all deposited of Roberts money $530.00 and of mine after drawing 500.00 after all checked to (Leetons)? lawyer for $65.00 then put for home with Willett after paying Expense 65 cts

 

May 6 1873 Tuesday

            Ezra on hand  forenoon cleaning out chicken house & plowing the garden, afternoon picking and burning brush in clearing

 

May 7 1873 Wednesday

            I went to Leesburgh to get bott in exprefs took some  butter & eggs brought back groceries & gard rake  Ezra went along Tobacco & soap 50  he lost the day boarded him

 

May 8 1873 Thursday

            Ezra on hand he and Ed saw logs & splitting 30 rails  I help in after noon after writing to Robert to old Philadelphia

 

May 9 1873 Friday

            G.Adams to 2 load wood 2.50  Ezra on hand working out in clearing sawing choping pick brush & haul of wood with oxen after noon  wet  Ed & I tagg sheep in after noon (Written in margin of page: Ed two loads wood to G.Adams)

 

May 10 1873 Saturday

            Ezra on hand  haul in forenoon  cattle  1 load wood to Crawford  1.25 1 load wood to I. Masters 1.25  after noon help me split rails till near 5 oclock  Ed haul logg

 

May 11 1873 Sunday

            I went to Leesburgh after an early dinner  Ed went & Fred on Alick

 

May 12 1873 Monday

            Ed & I reding in clearing forenoon I then commenced to plow afternoon plowed all round it till supper time

 

May 13 1873 Tuesday

            I plowing all day  Ed haul rails  Ezra come here afternight to settle but done nothing at it

 

May 14 1873 Wednesday

            Ed gardened afternoon  I plowing all day  Ed finished haul rails  hauld some manure and raising stone  cuting roots

 

May 15 1873 Thursday

            I plowing all day in new ground  finished it  Ed haul manure from barn & sheep house

 

May 16 1873 Friday

            Molley Fred & I went to Leesburgh  Got brown horses shod 8 removes cost $1.20 paid Joseph for Rofs  Ezra Fierbaugh to goods $9.25  Molley to goods  Ed harrowing corn  gardened afternoon

 

May 17 1873 Saturday

            I plowing corn  stable finish  Ed harrowing till dinner then went to Deersville  mother Fred Sarah & Tommey _  Red Heffer brought forth a dead calf  found on Sunday forenoon

 

May 18 1873 Sunday

            I at home all day  salt stock  Theadore passed by (turf) afternoon  Ed & Mary returned in eve

 

May 19 1873 Monday

            At home  harrowing in corn  grd Ed & I, in eve sold brown horses to J.McKew for cash $340.00 by taking them to Bowerston

 

May 20 1873 Tuesday

            Ed & I at home harrowing and cleaning of corn ground all day

 

May 21 1873 Wednesday

            Ed & Isaac & I building fence at lower side of corn ground commenced about 10 oclock and quit earley for supper

 

May 22 1873 Thursday

            Isaac Heaston & S.Tipton help build fence after dinner  I paid Tipton 50 cts for his time

 

May 23 1873 Friday

            I went to Leesburgh after dinner  Ed marked out corn ground

 

May 24 1873 Saturday

            (Written top of page: I bot 1 bus seed corot Nines & paid 60 cts)

            I at home all day  plant corn the help Sam Tipton Isaac Heaston Eanos Willit and little Dan Nines  $1.00 sugar none paid paid 35 cash

 

May 25 1873 Sunday

            Robert & I went to Deersville to visit the sick  come home late in eve met bro John & son in law

 

May 26 1873 Monday

            Christian Nine commin work on trial, I to pay him what ever I think him worth for a few days say week  fin planting corn Ed & Cristian plant potatoes in his garden  I choped chery (oupat?

 

May 27 1873 Tuesday

            Christian out and grub iron saplines & trim up  Ed with him forenoon-  Afternoon went to help I. Heaston plant corn-  Mary & Mrs. Ad went to Leesville  I got 2 prs cotton sock & 1 gloves.

 

May 28 1873 Wednesday

            Left calf skin  Christian & Ed grub Iron sapline  cleaning off & plow potato patch with oxen,  I went to Deersville & bro Williams got 1 bus potatoes
